would like to know how many of u guys have a good experience with different chalice and how many of em or not have sweeper tentacles.....

got a hollywood stunner and tentacles are short. is a very fast grower in my tank. just got a gold in the bunker from mr cob. havent seen any tentacles. i have them on the sand under a 150wt viper halide and 2 24wt actinic.

yes old tank had one under pc in a biocube. also on present tank had the stunner under 4 24wt t5s. until i got the halide for xmas

Yes, I have mine under t-5 and they are doing well. I have a Hollywood Stunner, 2 Hybrid watermelon, a no name red chalice, and a Golden Eye. They are between 12 and 16" under 4 - 36watt t-5 bulbs.

I have 2 gold in the bunker chalice frags from Mr. Cobs. I put 1 midway in my tank under one of my 250W 20k MH bulbs and the other low, offset from the light. I am trying to see which will respond better. I also have a nice pink chalice frag and a frag of Alien Eye chalice that are both low and offset from the MH bulbs. Those are doing GREAT! Growing like crazy and color is very good. Both of the BITB chalices are doing great and seem to look like the other as far as color goes. They have only been in my tank about a week so ill give it more time to judge which is doing better. As far as tentacles go mine are very short on mine I have never seen long sweepers on any of them.

I have mine under T5s but growth is only ok. Cant wait to get mine back under MH. Although Chalices dont need much light and some even color up better under low light from what Ive read. Mine are mid tank under a 6 bulb current USA Extreme fixture. They are colored up nicely. The only one I have with semi long tentacles(they dont go past the tissue of the chalice though) is the FnF Psychedelic chalice. My Miami Hurricane has small tantacles. The others really dont seem to put out their tentacles when I feed at night or the day for that matter.

i hve several chalices...and my miami huricane puts out sweepers like no other day...like i am taking about one of my miami huricane frag is only a nickle size with mutiple eyes and swepers r like 3 to 4" at night....but they r all doin good under t5s...

i have a miami hurricane that grows very fast. i also have another tyree miami hurricane with very long tentacles (over 1 inch). they each have between 25 and 35 heads. i also have others that dont grow so fast like the pot of god and original superman. they are all on the bottom under 400w 12k and 2 blue plus t5s. i also noticed that if an acan falls over and lands on a chalice, its only a matter of hours before your acan has melted away to slime floating around in the tank.

i agree...miami huricane is probaly the fastest growing chalice out there...i picked up mine from kevin a nice size colony and it nearly doubled up in few months....I am not a chalice expert but like to collect chalice and all my chalices r doin great and now i got em MH 2x150watt 20k bulbs...Its been about a little over a month since i upgrade my lights and i can see the growth...Rob was right even my scolys r responding well under these lights... I hve several le watertmelon chalices they r all growing besides my tyrees pink watermelon...lots of flesh with few eyes....

by the way next on my list is ktar's melting pot and purple urkkle....any one with experience keeping these yummies...????

It was a nice little piece and its tentacles were not the longest, but i could see them...(although not they aren't overly present in these pictures)

Yea man forgot to to mention..BM is another chalice that grows like weed..u can frag it and it will heal over few days and start to grow...My colony was over 60 eyes and I took off on a trip ..when I came back found my plate coral on my BM..1/3 of my colony destroyed :cry_smile..that was a big loss:

Another Gold in the Bunker for Mr Cobs here. I've only had it for two weeks, but I haven't seen any sweeper tentacles and it is definitely growing under 1 yr old PC lighting in BC14. I actually think I saw more growth when it was in the sand vs. being up higher.

every chalice response different..i hve double colony of few chalice and one them colonys sweepers r like few inches long and other one smll...
i wanted to share this pic and see what u"ll say...

I got a strawberry/bubble gum frag last Jan that had just finished encrusting the frag disc. It's now 5-6" in diameter under 250MH at mid-tank, but it puts out 4-6" sweepers ever night. I had a nice little colony of African Blue zoas going until the chalice got big enough to reach them with the sweepers.

My monster mash is another super slow grower ...three eyes on a with a 1"1/2 diameter.. could sprout more eyes but flesh probaly stays like this for ever..

i have a hot pink chalice, and hollywood stunner, all under t5 growing very well and very fast. both have no sweepers, also very hardy.

yeah, that pink one originally came in with felipe at fin addict. it is the fastest growing and hardiest chalice i have had throughout the years. as far as the original post for this thread, i have kept several different species of Echinophyllia and have never seen sweepers longer than about 1/2". most of the named chalices around are E. aspera which has small mouths and very short feeders.

my monster mash seems to be getting really dark pink ever since i swicthed to 20k MH but no growth what so ever....it sits about 24" under 300 wtts..
Should i move em around to get better growth ...
