Okay, I have a 36 gallon bowfront tank and looking to buy some live rock. I am looking for in between 35-40 pounds of nice inexpensive live rock. Preferably, pest-free please. :) I want some nice large base pieces, too. :) I would appreciate it if you let me know if you have what I am looking for. :)

I have dead rock......at least 50 pounds I believe that I would let go for 50 dollars. Can get a photo tomorrow. But it would be all or nothing.

Dylan, it's going to be tough to find nice, inexpensive, pest free live rock. I suggest buying dry rock from Phenomenal Aquatics for pennies on the dollar compared to curred live rock. It only takes a curred piece w/ coralline to seed the rest of your rock, and in two months it's pest free live rock. Sorry, you probably knew this already but I thought I would let you know what works for me.

I agree with Shagman, Chunky's lot could be a great deal if he has some interesting pieces. Ed at Phenomenal Aquatics does have good deals on rocks as well. And I know Gabe started bringing in some nice artificial rocks, can't remember the name or if he has anymore in stock.

After my first reef, I purchased some marco rocks, and have never looked back. When starting a new tank, I will always go with dead rock, just so I can be absolutely sure it is pest free, because as Shag said, in a matter of time it becomes live anyhow. In a couple of months, it is all purple anyhow at a fraction of the cost.

Either way, good luck with your rock hunt.

Sorry, didn't mean to discredit Chunky's deal. Seems like a steal.

Yes, I did know this. I just thought I would try to get some live rock, but I realize that I will probably end up getting dead rock with a few pieces of live rock. I have never been to Phenomenal Aquatics before. What is their address? How much is their dead rock per pound?
