View Full Version : Cadlights Disappointment

I ordered Cadlights 40g Artisan back on Oct 10. I purchased the light trees and stand as well. I'm satisfied with most of my purchase, however there's 2 things that really bother me about it. The doors for stand were not drilled correctly and do not fit the stand properly. They overlap in the middle and are too far in on the sides, they are supposed to fit flush with the stand. I've played with the hinges for over an hour and where they are drilled is just not far enough in. I've emailed Eddie over 6 times about this since I received my tank and I still don't have a resolution nor do they seem to care. I really didn't want to resort to doing this, but at this point, I'm pretty confident that I will not be getting any replacements. I'll have to live with the doors until I can have a stand custom built. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but I need the doors to sit flush in order to put child locks on to keep my 1 and 3 y/o out of the sump. You can see the pics to understand what I'm talking about.

The other thing I'm disappointed in, and it appears I'm the only one that has this problem. The tank was not drilled out for a standard bulkhead on the return. The hole is literally 3/4" ID. Other people on the forum who purchased the tank had theirs drilled out for a 3/4" bulkhead. I now had to purchase a hole saw and the expense/risk of having it drilled out. I think I could have lived with this if it wasn't for the stand. Here's pics with a 1/2" barb fitting.

Just a heads up to anyone who's looking to purchase their stuff.

So am I, I wanted to purchase everything new so I didn't have any surprises, so much for that idea.

Man that sucks... And I totally understand you being upset. It sucks when you pay for something with your hard earned money just to get screwed over by a company you are "suppose" to trust. I think what you are doing is a good thing, and after reading your thread I will know better than ordering anything from these people.

Based on some of the responses on the other board I posted this, I'm not the only one who's problems with them lately.

This reminds me of the excitement of purchasing my Finnex, UNTIL I actually received it. I am 100% certain that other members here on MAAST can attest to this.

If I've learned anything while being here on MAAST it's that CUSTOM is the only way to go!

On a side note, if you don't have the tank wet yet, I'd ask for another stand from Cadlights.

Christopher :)

I've been trying to get the stand replaced since Nov. with no luck. Can't believe it's that hard to get some **** doors.

Sorry to hear about the problems Teeb. I was hoping the Cadlights would turn out better than that. I was fixing to drop some serious money on one of their tanks this year and it appears I should rethink that.

Like Christopher said - they all come with problems. Any one who has listened to me for more than 5 seconds has heard the horribly bitter taste I have about Finnex tanks.

Well, Eddie is supposed to sending me new hinges and that should correct the problem. I just wish he would have done this 2 months ago.

Good to hear. Hopefully it will work out finally.
