How long will a fish last in a bag?

I will be going to Austin tomorrow to check out their lfs. Was wondering if I was to buy a fish, will it last the car ride back home to SA? I would think it would since they are in bags when shipped from farms to local stores. If by any chance they don't last in a bag, would there be another way to transport them? Thanks in advance...

we send fish/corals to mexico all the time just ask for a larger bag tell them you have a long drive ahead of you and ask for a styro box to keep the temp stable

My dad buys fish in San Antonio and drives them to Abiline. Its a 3 and a half hour drive and they do fine in the bag:)

I know the Aquadome will pack the fish in a larger bag and fill it with pure oxygen if you tell them you're driving back to Austin.
