What operating system is on it? I figured WM6.xx but could also be WM7.

its wm 6.5. There will be no official release for wp7 but developers over at xda almost have wp7 ported to the hd2. It can run android off the SD card. The release for the android nand on the HD2 is going to be released at xda sometime in the next couple weeks.

It's a great phone, and WM6.5 works. I run a custom Mr.X rom, based on 6.5x on my TP2 with cookies and a few other tweaks. I may switch to T-Mobile in a few months.

My friends think I am such a phone geek, lol, but at 47 I may seem that way to them. I get a kick out of the cell producers hype, like mobil WiFi routing, I have been able to do that for over a year with my TP2.

It should run Linux, you can port Linux to a toaster and it will run. :D

your right, i had put linux on every gaming system i have ever owned and a couple phones. i tinker with stuff alot. i go through cell phones fast because once i figure everything out about them i get bored. I have been flashing phones for years and have never broke a phone. you would be suprized how many cell phones i got in my house right now.
