So I'm a new Charter Member and was wanting some info on the January meeting. My wife would like to come along with me (This is a VERY GOOD thing ) but she was wondering how much it would cost for her to come with. I didn't know if there was a visitor fee or if seeing that she is my wife, and she was actually the one who paid for my memberhsip, if it was free for her to be my shadow for the day.
Sorry didn't know where to ask so I thought here would work fine... Thanks
Dustin and Daniele

1. I'll be there.
2. Will the photo box work with point and shoot cameras too? Or just your fancier cameras? If they work with point and shoots too, put me down for one. I can't let John have all the fun!
Christopher :)

Dustin, Daniele is encouraged to come along. If she would also like to make a photo box, it is $5 for the materials for each box. I think Mike and I are just going to build the one box between us so we would have only one $5 fee. Make sense? Most of our meetings are free for web members or charter, by the way. This one is different since it's a workshop with a materials fee.

Gotcha Kristy... Thanks, I just didn't know if there was something... She was asking so I figured I'd ask here... Thanks for clearing it up and we look forward to the meeting... I believe we will be doing the same. Daniele is likely to glue her hands together... Would make for good conversation though..

One more shout out to Ace and Jack for being willing to take the time to share your expertise. It's not easy to get up and present to our group and not many are willing to do it, so you guys are very much appreciated! Thanks for an interesting and informative demo and a great job all around!

that is exactly how i open them. after unscrewing the cap, carefully drive a flat head screw driver through the metal seal and then pop it out of the top ring.

I have another question on the torch polishing:
I didn't want to spend too much for just one project so I just bought a small butane torch.
3 things happen:
- the edge does get that polished look (good)
- sometimes the acrylic catches on fire (bad?)
- the edges seem to 'roll' (bad?)
any tips?
hobogato
Sat, 26th Feb 2011, 10:30 PM
you are probably moving too slowly. the rounding (rolling?) is something that happens if you get it really hot.
