:)

Can I run two types of media in a single reactor? I currently running carbon in a reactor and I'm thinking about running 1/2 carbon 1/2 gfo. I don't see why it'd be a problem but I've never heard of anyone doing this.

The only problem is different media work optimum at different flows. I currently am running two in my reactor right now. One is in the reactor normally and the other is a bag inside the reactor.

I would think another problem would be that the media exhaust at different rates so you'd probably dump out your carbon before you dump out your GFO. If you mix them you'd get rid of your GFO much earlier than you'd have to otherwise and that seems a little bit wasteful.

Both very good points. I was hoping not to buy another reactor. :(

What about separating them with a sponge? Carbon on top gfo on bottom. That way you could pull out the carbon and leave the gfo for a while longer.

Thats also why I have one in a bag. Its easy to dump one or the other. I just actually started this on Fri. So I cant speak from much experience but that was my thinking.

That's an awesome idea.

I get lucky every once in a while. Besides that info was passed on to me from someone else.

I did just that for a couple of years with 0 problems. I was running GFO and ROX 0.8 in a phosban reactor.

The only reason I went with the dual reactor is that GFO has a different depletion rate to carbon, so you'd have to either bag them and assume that you'll not have optimal touch/flow, or you'll have to assume that you'll be replacing one faster than the other, or dumping the one you're not needing to replace. Assuming you replace the carbon more often (depending on the type anywhere from 2 - 3 weeks), and you replace the GFO at 1 months to 6 weeks (depending on the type), you may be wasting in the long run, and it'll certainly complicate the whole replacement process... Another reactor wouldn't kill you baller :P
