When I first started building my tank, I took lots of pics and made lots of notes. I didn't start a build thread though, because I didn't know where to put it.
The forum descriptions are a little vague. There's one for big tanks and one for little tanks, but nothing in between. I would never refer to my 90 as a nano, but it didn't seem right for the General forum either.
I love my tank, (don't want to jinx it by complaining!) but there are some things I could have done to make it better. Now that it's all built, I'm hesitant to make dramatic changes to plumbing, the sump and stand, etc. If I had started a build thread, I probably would have gotten some great tips from people with more experience.
Can the forum descriptions be changed, or another one added? For people with mid size tanks like my 90g. I was too new and shy to ask when I should have, a year or two ago.

I agree. As soon as you put a mid sized tank in the "general reefkeeping discussion" forum it gets buried with 100's of other posts and is really difficult to find again. Makes you feel like the middle child. Everyone forgets about you.

I think it's been asked before and the answer was to post it in General. I don't think adding a new forum for the in between tanks would hurt though. ;)

It's funny how weird it was to get comfortable posting. Surprised to read you were too shy to ask where to post it, but then again I was just sharing that I would not post anything except "interested in buying your item. PM Sent" for several months for fear of proving how stupid I was.
Aww, Rob! Were / are you a middle child?

Yeah it is kinda of ridiculous for only two categories. I think it's a cop out telling to just post in general. It wouldn't have a negative impact or any more of a load on the site.

Sometimes, in the past, MAAST wasn't as friendly as it is now. I used it as a resource but kept my distance. I still keep quiet sometimes, but MAAST has replaced some of my other resources because of its community feel and honesty. Maybe it's because MAAST has gotten better, maybe because I've gotten more comfortable with it, but either way, I'm glad I finally have a reliable place to turn.

What did they say? I'll be needing a mid size tank section in January too...

mid size forum would be great, when i started out, it seemed nobody had a 55g tank. So I pretty much had to figure out what equipment I needed by asking around lfs. I understand I could have asked on maast, but like everyone, I was shy to ask and intimidated by all the 100+ gallon tanks. I think a mid size tank forum would have been and could be very helpful for a newbie.

I will see what I can do. Things are a little busy with the new year coming.

If you have not noticed yet - there is now a midsize tank forum. Thank you to those that made it happen.
