I previously saw one of these attached to a snail.
After consulting Chuck's Addiction I decided they most closely resembled Medusa Worms (http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchodds.html) and here (http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/invert.htm)

I threw it back in. I just retrieved a piece of macro algae and was caught by the icky sticky worms!

Now I am reconsidering.

Are they really medusa worms? Are they supposed to be sticky? Are they really harmless?

Medusa worms as in spaghetti worms?

When in doubt remove it! :)

I checked on wetwebmedia and found one that looks just like it (towards bottom of the page):
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/wormidfaqs5.htm

I am still on the fence of whether to put them back in or keep them out. It makes it a total of 3. There might be more anyway. It wouldn't have freaked me out as much had they not been so sticky. That seemed weird. I wonder if small worm like this can eat tiny fish like my pygmy gobies?
