Are all corals on the site wysisyg?

Glad you asked.

YES. All corals on our site are WYSIWYG. We will do our best to keep it this way.

It takes more time obviously to list them this way but I think we all hate ordering something that we have no idea what it will look like other than a picture of a mother colony. We plan to do a lot of fragging so I think by only posting WYSIWYG corals it will help us to stay in line with only letting quality healthy frags out the door.

Hey!

Any details on your acclimation process? Will you be getting directly from collectors, or from vendors within the states / internationally?

Mr Cob

Thanks JT! Appreciate the comments.

Neo...we float our corals for about 30 minutes with lights off and then drip acclimate for one to two hours while we inspect each piece for large pests and work on our inventory. After the corals have acclimated to our water we dip each one in Coral RX. Then, rinse with tank water and add to tank.

In order to increase our quality of stock we decided early on that we would deal both Continental US and Internationally.

If it's not rare it's bare (or something like it) is their motto on the site ;)

Thanks for the quick update! I've a few more questions, hope you don't mind! Do you by any chance have any pics of your coral holding areas? I'm just wondering more than anything else :) Also, what sort of lighting are you going to keep the corals under while they're in your care? Are you going to quarantine corals for a set time before selling them to ensure quality? Do you add any chemicals to the coral holding tanks to aid in recovery, and if so, which ones? Do you separate corals of different types into different holding areas to avoid chemical warfare/stress related issues? Are you planning on farming coral, and fragging your farmed colonies?

Neo...questions are fine.

See my sig? That's it. Not going to pretend we have some fancy blownout setup. We have a modest 55g and a shallow 85g which is fine for now. Ha...when you order rare corals and get lunchbox sized boxes come in I guess you don't need much room.

As our customer base grows I presume so will our need for expanding.

My personal stock is no longer a personal stock, the corals I have farmed over the last 3+ years are now a part of Mr. Cob's Corals. So, yes, we plan to farm and are already farming....as miniscule as it may be.

Corals are under T5 and 250w MH (both 20k and 10k). Not concerned with chemical warfare at the moment but the corals are grouped with like corals. When we get into fancy SPS we will have a separate tank for them. At the moment we will only get montiporas in these tanks.

Dipping mother colonies and frags in MediCoral to aid in recovery after fragging.

fragging....Yes and yes and Yes.

All new corals get a quarantine period and the same goes for new frags. We inspect them for pests and for health. Once they look good and it's been at least a couple of days they go on the site. I have made far too many orders online from vendors that cut, glue and ship all in the same day. By only posting WYSIWYG corals there is no way this will be a problem for us. I also check the stock daily and will update the site as needed to reflect the condition of the coral. For example...go check out the Mummy Eye. Click here (http://www.mrcobscorals.com/magento/index.php/lps-corals/ultra-green-eye-mummy-eye-chalice.html). I noticed this morning that the edges were white. I moved it up higher in the tank a couple of days ago and it apparently did not like that much light. So I moved it back down, updated the WYSIWYG shot on the site and posted a note about it along with dropping the price from $220 to $180. I believe that in itself speaks for our quality control.

I cannot tell you what the future holds for us and we will position ourselves in a way that will support the volume of orders and the needs of our customers. I guess our customers will determine that for us.

Thanks for taking the time to ask some questions.

Take care.

This is Mrs. Dendro's city. She is one of our "farmed" corals. She also has her own area in the tank. lol

Thanks, Jpond83 : )

Rick...it was good seeing you, thanks for the pics....the cute little rack looks cool too!

Glad everything opened up for you...those duncans are funny....feed them and then they close up for a day or two and don't come back out until they are hungry again! I actually had to stop feeding them so they would stay out, we have 4 more frags to take pictures of but I fed them the day we were snapping shots.

Thanks for the update guys :) maybe you should put that info on your FAQ on your site, would prove to be pretty comprehensive for potential non-maast buyers.
