Sooooooooooooooooooooooo..................
What are the lowest heat and wattage return pumps? Looking for 900 gph, & 700 gph. Also looking to replace a Sedra Needlewheel....
Any input?

Have researched the Sicce line yet? When I was trying to make up my mind on a new pump for my build it came down to an Eheim and Sicce. Sicce won out due to local support and parts availability.

Well the Sicce 4 only uses 8 less watts than the mag 9.5, are they cooler running though?

you still running into heat issues ?

I do not have experience with mag pumps as I have never ran them. I do know that Ace said he had a drop in water temp after switching over to a Sicce. I think the other person who experienced the same thing was Stangchris.

8 less watts. Where is Alton when I need some electrical math done? Will that add up over a period of time to get you some savings? I am not sure.

I have several Sicces an really like them. Quiet, cool, great customer support from Sicce and a nice small foot print compared to similarly powered pumps

I'm running the sicce 4.0 on my 57g. It droped my temp over the mag7 I was running. I like then, I will upgrade my mag3 to a sicce 1.5 for my pellet reactor.

I'm going to be running sicce on my new build... best bang, and reviews for the buck... as for heat, what about just going LED ;)

sicce 3 runs 3 degrees cooler than my mag7. Gabe has a 3.5 and 4 instock

Why was this even asked ? We have told you several times about Sicce..

Yeah but I was running a Mag24, lol. Now I am running a 9.5.....
Alton could do the math here, but the main issue is the chiller.... It's 1/4 HP and it turns on several times per day. That is where the electric company is making their dough. If I can drop the temps enough to seriously justify the cost of buying 2 new sicces, I certainly will. I'll have to take some time to time the chiller over the course of the day, and wether or not the AC unit is running at the same time to see if that is killing me electrically. Here we are at 11:40 and its 77.4 degrees in my tank with 2 wally world fans-a-screaming and the house temp is 72.

I was at a basketball game last night, sorry. When ever you use a submersible pump you add heat to your tank. How much can depend on the pump. Example I have an old JBJ power head and the label says 25 watts. If I use this power head to mix saltwater in a 6 gallon bucket in 12 hours the water temperature is at 85. So this pump has what I call wasted heat. I ran a mag 18 on my 75 with only a 1" return drain, now we all know the mag 18 is rated for 1800 gallons but at the same time a 1" drain cannot handle 1800 gallons so once again wasted heat into the tank so I had to run this pump external so it was air cooled versus water cooled. Someone around here with a Sicce pump and a mag pump both rated for the same GPH and watts need to do a test where both are connected to a power strip plumbed to a 4' lift and see which one fills up there bucket first? So many times we blame our lights on heating up our tanks, when the real culprite is all the pumps we have running in our tanks from return, to skimmer, and also circulation.

I would think head pressure and the pumps ability to handle head pressure would have a big effect on the amount of heat generated.

the mag7 and sicce 3 are about the same the day i put the sicce my sump was at the level it runs normally with out top off. As soon as I swapped them out the sicce, my auto top off tried to kick on(empty at time) even after 10 min the sump level was still low. so I guess the sicce is a lil better also heat was 3 degrees less maybe a lil more. that's on a 55 inch return

3 degrees less is HUGE! If I could get that type of number I would be pleased.

This thread has my attention as well. Running a rio2500 wondering if this would help. And what size

Mag 7 - 70 watts
Sicce 3 - 48 watts
22 watts min of more heat or like having 4 less korillia's in your tank?
Cost wise you save about $20 a year in electrical cost or if the life of the pump is 6 years, it pays for itself in savings?

yeah the other savings is in the chiller. That's the big cost in addition to the 24/7 pumps that are on.

Quiet One 4000 is decent Erik.
Anyone know about the newer BubbleBlaster set up as water pumps? I know the 5000 set up on my skimmer had pretty good specs, now they're making them as general pumps. No low cost though.
What do the Sicce go for? How is their longevity?

The easiest would of course be to ditch the halides :P .... also, what about an external pump?
