Tank: 62 gallon...aka 36x24x18 I think?
I am having issues with algae at the sand bed due to low flow. Rockscape is in a kind of T formation.
I was running 2 power heads on the lower sand base but upon my return last week one had burnt out.
I snagged a Koralia 4 from Rob today and it sure seems to move a nice amount of water and makes my turnover seem much better.
I am thinking of adding a second one to the opposite end of the tank. Think this would be overkill or acceptable? So far nothing seems bothered by the flow.
I also thought that maybe I could run them in alternating off a wave box. Just tossing ideas.

the algae isnt from low flow. its from phosphates. remove them and the problem will be solved
no such thing as too much flow though, i had two #3s in my 30g

i had 2 koralia evo 1400 in my current which the exact same one as yours, i would look into getting a couple they are a little smaller in size than a k2 better spread of flow than the k4, also use less energy and less heat.

Ill look into that one Chris I appreciate it. According to my tests and what im runnign my phosphates are about nil. Im not talking a ton of algae here just a spattering of it in a few light flow to dead zones under my rock cave edges.

it is my understanding that the phosphate test kits are not effective. the best way to tell if you have phosphates is if you have algae

The only phosphate test I have found that works is hair algae.

so true, since running bio pellets ive seen a decrease in algae, i cleaned my overflow of the long hairy stuff 2 weeks ago and usually by now it all back. the over flow in still clean so is the algae i had growing on the baffles of my sump.

I completely agree with Tony... if anything as long as your corals are happy, you've enough flow.
