I'm really excited because I finally found a name for the ugly little things. I've been trying to figure it out for a long time. I haven't put a lot of energy into it, because they don't seem to hurt anything.

They were on my rock when I started. All of it. All over. They're really gross, and I tried pulling them off with a turkey baster, cutting with a razor blade, smashing, even yanking on it with my bare hands.

I notice the population increase or decrease when I change feeding habits for any reason. They don't bother me much because they've always been there and my tank is doing great. I just think they're gross looking, but they're only out at night.

Anyone else have these?

Some posts claim they're awful dangerous, but I think they may be confusing it with colonial hydroids. MelevsReef claims they're not a nuisance in his tanks. MAAST has only one mention in the archive but its so old the pic links don't work.

I haven't seen that specific creature before. Maybe I haven't looked close enough.

My motto is, if it's alive and it's not hurting anything, leave it be.

Just another sign of life in our tanks.

Christopher :)
