Well after getting rid of the 215 I am gonna jump back in on a smaller scale. I have a new biocube 14 and want to get some suggestions on what to stock it with...probably only going to put in one or two fishes??? Any ideas?

Zoanthids are definitely good, easy, and nice corals to keep if lighting isn't strong. If you do want to go with an anemone, sps and/or clams in the future, you need some pretty good lights. What kinds of fish do you like? You could have a goby/pistol pair. Clown goby. A damsel, if that is the only fish. A cardinal fish. A dartfish. It depends what you like, but with such a small tank, I would recommend only one fish, but you could get away with two smaller fish.

I keep a shrimp/goby pair in mine. Not much else. The shrimp is like a bulldozer that never stops.

thanks for the suggestions...i was looking at some of the custom led lights from nanotuners...does anyone have experience with these? two issues are if the led lighting is sufficient and whether or not there will be heat issues??? maybe even thinking of hanging metal halide/t5 over it???

LEDs give off virtually NO HEAT! From what I've heard, metal halides will burn you so bad if you touch the bulb, the splash guard, or the fixture. T5s are good too, but they do get hot as well(not as hot as halides). LEDs are the newest lighting for aquariums, and from what I've heard, better than any previous reef light. I have no experience with LEDs, as I have T5s. LEDs are a hunk of cash up front, but they last ten times longer, plus, you'll have no major difference in your electricity bill. Metal halides use a lot of electricity, so you will see a larger difference. I'm by no means an expert, so all you old-timers(wise people) feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Definitely want better lighting. Especially for color. The PCs are never enough. I've got a 150w and T5 for a $100 from aquatraders and its awesome. You could grow anything under the sun in a 14g.

so do you hang your 150 w and t5 fixture or is it in the hood?
