That is insane! I read the whole article. I loved this part "My wife appeared behind me with her hands on her hips saying, “Only you could have created a death ray in our living room, only you.”" LOL Great looking "bowl"!

That is one cool aquarium, who would think to do that but a artist.

I have looked at old antique heavy glass jugs in the past wondering if they could be drilled or not. This has inspired me to look into that again.

you could prob just cut the bottom of a bowl add a new piece of glass drilled and silicone it back to the bottom. better have a steady hand for a straight cut

Awesome! I am all for full spectrum, low energy consumption lighting :)

Im gonna have to go against the grain here as I am not a fan of the rounded panes of glass. I hate how you have to be at a certain area to see a certain part of the tank(for example at sea world the huge cyclinder tank they have) but especially a full bowl as you would also be fighting it vertically as well as horizontally- if that makes sense, I am now starting to confuse myself lol.

Now if you could make me a square tank like that you would have my attention.

I'm kind of with Kevin on this too. I think its very cool to have a giant bowl, but its hard to see in half-cylinder, cylinder, and sphere shaped tank. I like the smoothness and seamless look of rounded tanks, but as far as seeing into the tank, I like flat panels. I like bowfront aquariums because all the inhabitants in the tank aren't distorted and it kind of magnifies corals.

It's not what I would want in my house but I appreciate the ingenuity of thinking of something different. Since the bowl have such a clean look to them I'd also hide the skimmer/sump more. I do like the light though!
