I am by no means a genius, but I feed my fish. I do not have a yellow watchman goby, but I feed my fish once a day and sometimes skip a day just to keep levels down. What other fish are in tank?

Smaller, more frequent feedings throughout the day is ideal. They don't skip a meal in the ocean. Mysis is a good food to feed

lol yeh I feed mine too.. But there is no other fish in the tank yet just a pistol shrimp and a cuc.. Should I cut a normal size cube of food in half for one fish?

Just two or three mysis per feeding would be sufficient two or three times a day. But that's if he is eating all three pieces and the pieces are full shrimp, not just heads or tails. half a cube would extreme overfeeding.

1/2 a cube is prob way too much for one fish, especially for a yellow watchman... you could thaw part of a cube and feed it over several feedings... just what he eats in a few minutes. Just store it covered in the fridge...

I feed mine a pinch of flake food, and a quarter cube of frozen food on a daily basis for a watchman and 3 other fish. Try to feed a variety of frozen food that's high in protein. I rotate between formula 1, mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and prime reef cubes.

I have only mysis and flake right now I'll try to pick some different ones up tomorrow.

Won't hurt if you do. My watchman won't go too far from his cave so I turn the pumps off for about 10 mins to give him a chance to grab a bite.
Has your's already bonded w/the shrimp? I think it's the coolest thing to see my watchman acting like a look out while the pistol shrimp is moving the sand around.

no :( I barely put them in a few hours ago shrimp went to a cave and the watchman is swimming around I'd didn't see him eat when I fed hopefully he did.. I can't wait to see them bond

is it normal behavior for the fish to be swimming in the corner of the tank then he will go to the other corner?

Mine didn't eat for the first 2-3 days. As long as there is some sand and rock to hid in, it should settle in soon. I've only got about an 1" of sand in the tank and that seems to suit them just fine.

agreed :)
I have Vortechs and turn them down for feeding (they run on half power but still keep turning). If I had regular powerheads in a small tank I'd probably just leave them on.

Next time the goby is out, watch the cave where he came from. My shrimp won't leave their cave, but you can see him pushing a load of sand out of the opening every few minutes.

Not yet. After 2 or more days... I would write it off in the "L" column

You may not see the pistol much... but you should see the results of his work. The goby will move some sand around, but nothing like the elaborate tunnel structures the pistol will make. If you see new holes popping up all over the place, he's been busy.
If you really want to see him at work... blast a little sand into his favorite cave to see him clean it up. Little mean, I know... you can practically see the frustration in the shrimps movements. But it's a good way to get him on camera...
