I have this thread in General Reefkeeping but thought this forum may be more appropriate---

I am thinking of putting a tank up in my kids' science class at school. Wasn't there an area on here with stuff available cheap/free for teaching purposes?

Aiming for around 20 gallon long community/softie setup. Nothing too complicated.

Still needed--used is great:

I could use a 30" light (nothing fancy--just enough for some easy softies, easy algae and fish)
1 or 2 powerheads
heater
thermometer
5 gallon containers for saltwater (4 or 5 hopefully)
Test kit(s)
Maybe a little more live rock
extra shells for growing crabs

Animals I am hoping to put in:

nassarius snails, cerith snails, blue/scarlet/red leg crab combo
Cleaner shrimp (can I fit a pair--or just one?)
Pair of perc clown fish
Possibly goby and pistol shrimp
Possibly 6 line wrasse
Possibly emerald crab
green stars
various zoas
various shrooms
red sea xenia
maybe colt coral or other leather(s)
cant decide between bubble coral and toadstool (for clowns)
a pretty algae or two

Let me know what you have available and for how much. Also, feel free to voice your opinion on my choices of inhabitants. I doubt I can get all that stuff in there, so tell me your favorites--or make other suggestions. Thanks, all!

Being a poor teacher I understand you search for the classroom. I have a few things. I can give you. I also have a 20 gallon with a stand that is drilled if you are interested. Plus lights etc for a canopy

Thanks guys!
LOL--sorry Jack--not sure how I got the names mixed up. I guess they just sound so much alike! lol. I will put a message out there for a possible delivery person.

David--thanks so much! I have a 20L with stand that was already donated to me, but would the lights fit? (30"). What are the dimensions of the tank you have? Not sure what etiquette would be for the already donated tank if I decided to go with yours?? Give it back...trade to you...etc. I could ask him. (HIS name IS Robert by the way!)

Alex--those bottles would be awesome!

Gotta run the kids to school. :)

looks like you are all set on the 5 gallon containers or else I could offer several 5 gallon buckets with lids

Jack,

I have lost my ever lovin' mind!! I got 2 alerts for messages and read this one as addressing me only (since I did not consider the preceeding posts):

"Rob.... Lol! Come see me.

Angela, i've got some for you but don't get to Austin much. If you can find someone to transport I'd be glad to hook you up!"

I thought that somehow I had addressed you as Robert! Man--what have I been smokin'??? And no....I'm not blonde. :)

David, I am going to go ahead and set up the tank I have on hand. The teacher just told me the earlier I can start setting up the better. Hoping to get started sometime today. However, I would still be interested in the lights (if you are willing to separate them from the tank) and some of your other items.

Trae is heading to Round Rock tomorrow around 2pm. If it is convenient for any of you to meet/him to pick up or whatever works best, please send him a pm. If this doesn't work for this time, it's no big deal. I truely appreciate your efforts!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those helping me out. The only thing I need pdq is a 30" light. Used, nothing spectacular under $30??? Just for easy softies and fish.
