No didn't hit the lottery but should get a settlement on my injury by the end of the year, so planning everything out to make sure the transition goes well...

Sounds like a good list. Another biopelleter? Karin seems to be doing real well with them keeping nutrients down.

Going SPS?

Well after some thinking, we have decided that this will probably our last tank build, so we are looking into getting an AGE Starfire with external calfo, steel stand frame with the dimensions of 60"L x 30"W x 22"H, which comes to 171 gallons. We have decided to combine Cheri's and my tank together for a unique conglomeration we will call, "The Street". It will be powered by a Wavebox and a closed-loop from the sandbed.

Have you thought about AI's, or even Evolution LED's for the lighting? And why specifically the RKL, and not the RKE? If you're going to be feeding heavily, have you thought about adding GFO, or etc? Frag tank?

I am still not completely sold on LED lighting. As far as the controller, it is still an open door between the RKL and RKE. I haven't decided on what all I want to control. I will continue to run GFO even with the pellets... Oh and we have a frag tank...

When're you planning on getting this all going? is it going to be a nice slow process? If so, you're welcome to see how my LED's, as well as other members are performing over time ;)

Yes, it will be a little while as I am waiting for the settlement on my leg injury. I will get with you about coming by...thanks for the offer...

That's a nice setup. It appears that you want to stick to 5' long tanks so you may want to look at the Marineland Deep Dimensions which can be ordered with starfire. The tank has a 60 X 36 X 27 in footprint making it a 250 gallon tank. This is what we were going to buy to replace Mizeny's half circle before we picked up the other tank.

Np ;) I'm getting the Sol Blues, which is the same that txg8gxp has, however Ramsey has the Whites, which is where his par readings come from. Also, I'll be running BioPellets, GFO and Carbon in some NextReef XL Reactors, and some other bits and pieces. It'll only be up and running in a week or two though... (after I've moved everything)

I just get too much growth from the halides...it's hard to fix what ain't broke...I just don't think anyone gets the growth halides produce from LED's...

lmao...Stephen, I know how hard it was for you...

If you're going to run pellets, you should probably not run UV or Ozone... Go read the comments on the NP site about it. Essentially, you could cause a cyclic 'cycle' of your tank. Although, if you're going to have a big beefy skimmer, with a sure fire way of getting your reactor return into your skimmer, you should be fine ;)

A lot of people would argue otherwise, but I don't have them yet, so I can't say for sure... We'll see when they arrive ;)

How long have I had that stag? It's doubled in size for sure. MH is good, I'm just glad my t5 is gone.

neogenix
Fri, 8th Oct 2010, 01:08 AM
I don't mind T5 so much... but LED was just cheaper in the long run... oddly. Using a good fixture and 3, or 4 250W MH's will be around 1200 in electricity alone over 3 years... excluding any $$$ that you'd need to keep the tank cool, and the bulbs... never mind the fixture itself...
