I know some of you are big rc fans. I'm looking for a good beginer helicoptor. Anyone got some or suggestions where to look/what to get ?
Thanks

E flight. The mcx, mcx2, msr, sr120, and sr are all great beginner heli's. I would recommend a coaxial heli for your first. Any other info needed please ask, I have tons of experience with this stuff.

Counter-rotating main rotors. They are much easier to fly.
x2 on the e-flight helis. They are great!

E flight blade mcx2, tamdem rescue both have nav. lights out of the box. You can add them to the cx3 aswell.

I bought one of the cheap remote copters from wallmart and the first flight it went up in the air and back down into my dogs water troft. $40 for 10 seconds of flight.

I flew my Blade MCX in to my reef tank and it shorted out the board. Called them up and they sent me a new board out no charge. Great helis, great customer support! I have 3 of them.

walmart is different from hobby shops....there is a shop in the area of Judson and Nacogdoches called Radio Control Headquarters, used to be known as Toys 4 Big Boys. Great guys at the shop and they have numerous small helis on display usually, even demo it for you. I remember one time when Elliot was joking around and used one to dry the floor after mopping.

I got a Blade CX2 I was thinking about letting go. Tons of upgrades, parts and 3 or 4 battery packs. Not as up to date as the newer ones but good for learning. Oh, and I got a light kit for it. Not trying to take away from RC Headquarters, just something laying around.

After reading more about them I want one I can fly outside, so I guess the little micro ones are out. What are the differences in the size ? Some say 200, 300, 400, 500, etc....
Also what about buying from xheli.com ?

200,300,etc. is a motor size rating. 400's run around 325mm blades, so overall rotor span would be around 675mm. X-heli is ok, but they are just cheap copies of align helis. They are good price but made out of weaker material, not a good thing in crashes. Alot of those kind of helis are collective pitch for 3d flight, this makes them move much faster. (harder to fly) Depending on amount of money to spend, Blade SR is not a bad place to start then a Blade B400. If more money is allowed align is worth every penny. They hold up very well in crashes....I know :) If you go with a CP heli, don't go any smaller then a 400-450 size.

I understand what you mean by saying they are just "ok" but I like the price. Espicially just to try out to see if I'm going to like them. Even though in the long run I'm sure I'll spend more in replacement parts...can you recommend a decent one in the bigger size I can fly outdoors from xheli (there are so many) ? I have some expirience from cars, boats, and planes, but no heli. I do plan on getting the simulator also.
Once again, thanks for the help.

I have a Blade 400 and a Blade mSR that I would be willing to let go. Both are in great shape.
