reference thread for those thinking about housing this species.

please post anything and everything about your experience with crocea clams. some things you might include:

pics
how big was it when you got it?
how long have you had it?
what are the specifics for its care in your tank (lighting, flow, placement in tank, special feeding, etc)?
problems to look out for
anything else you can think of

I can not get a picture of my current crocea clam until tomorrow evening. Sorry.

Anyways, I got this clam at LMAR from ReefKoi and it is doing great. It is about 2 inches long and heard these things guzzle up calcium. I know I can test my calcium daily for a week to find the average calcium depletion per day but I would also like to know how much all of your clams eat up daily/weekly. My clam is in a 20 gallon tank so that will greatly effect how much calcium is used up. Thanks for any help.

dont forget, most people agree, any clam under 3" long need to be fed phyto as they are not believe to be big enough to house enough zooxanthellae to sustain them. at that size, it will not use up much calcium. as it gets bigger, it will start using more.
