I've seen one of the chromos hanging around in it and now the birds nest is bleaching at the bottom. Will it recover? The nest is tilted away in this photo.

I would think the issue is alk not a chromis, but I'm not sure.

I would frag a little just in case. Didnt this happen to Rob?

I've got about ten frags of this guy already. If I refrag I'd be able to get a larger size to replace it in the dt.

So far this is the only one suffering. At first I thought the branches on top were blocking the light from the lower branches. But it seems to be speeding up.

I went through this with a Valida but the problem was due to not having enough flow to wash away the pooh from the school of chromis that took up residence.

I'm thinking ur problem is not related to a chromis. I personally would not cut the bleached branches if it has stopped bleaching...they may come back. If it is still bleaching then I would cut them out to prevent it from continuing throughout the rest of the colony. If you do cut it....make sure you include some of the healthy parts to make sure you get it all.

Argh, I can't believe you posted that picture!!! Lol, I feel like I've been exposed.

I did have some flow on it, a k3, and original location it may have been getting some flow. I'm letting it set for a few days and then I'll see how it fares.

I just hate seeing all that white.

Wouldn't want to embarrass you for indecent exposure, post w/pic removed.

Oh, you didn't have to do that. I was just kidding. Actually the picture probably appeals to those who like spaghetti.

The white seems to have stopped, I've moved it away from the flow area.

Crud! Bleaching has moved past the heart of the colony and is now working up the primary branches.

I think fragging may be the next step.

When was the last time you changed your bulbs? Anything changed in your dosing regimen? Alk swings at night? GL dewd

I think the bulbs probably need to be changed. Nothing else is affected. I've got frags of this thing everywhere and it's all doing well. Except for the mother colony.

It's gone. I managed to save a few frags from it, now it's just a waiting game to see if I lose those as well.

If anything ever made me want to get out of the hobby, this has got to be it.

Bummer! Get out of the hobby for this though? You have handled much more than this! Birdsnest colonies grow back pretty quickly in the right lighting, so get your lights replaced and get ready to watch it grow back!
