So I finally have the tank level!!! The problem is I did it between the 3/4 foam and the stand. Now I am wondering if this will create pressure points? To expalin it better my stand has a pedestal, then it is the stand, then the foam and finally the tank. Should I move the shims to in between the stand and the pedestal? Right now they are between the foam and the stand. Suggestions? I need this thing running asap and want to minimize stress to the tank.

Kevin,

Level it either between the floor and pedestal or between the pedestal and stand.

Don't put it under the foam, it won't level.

I wish yall would have said that sooner. jk

I had it like that at first but this took away the gap between the stand and pedestal so I liked the look better. Well off to take out the shims..... again. lol

put a carpet runner in front of the tank.

I put the shims between the pedestal and the stand so I wouldnt leave imprints on the floor. Its not that bad I will see how it looks with the fuge light in there. Plumbing tomorrow then filling this weekend!

All you have to do is use black caulking to fill in the gap after the shims...

was there a reason you chose not to use a DSA stand?

There's probably a $1000 reasons why he didn't use their stand. Besides, the tank would still need to be leveled no matter who's stand he used.

I think if it was on DSA stand it would not need any leveling unless the area he put it is hat bad..

the main issue i see is the flooring not being perfect which can throw off the level of the tank

Especially a tiled floor. All sorts of little ripples and variances on that type of surface. That's what I was talking about, not the quality of DSA stands.

very true.. i think its on wood floor..I Think whats gonna be hard is that in this case the floor seems to be level but the stand it self is not level

That would be kind of scary -especially with that much water weight... :0

Actually a couple reasons- 1. My sump is rather high and to get the stand in the door it needed a pedastal to get the right height. 2. I wanted more access to my sump. 3. Price- Im sure is higher but didnt check as I doubt they would have built it the way I wanted it. 4. I wanted it to be overbuilt. Like survive a earthquake overbuilt and I have yet to see a manufactured stand that is built to my likeing.

Those were my main driving points to avoid a manufactured stand.

All three(well four counting this one) of my stands that I have bought have needed leveling. One was all glass, one oceanic and one I dont know what it was. The issue Im running into is the whole 8 foot length. Its about 1/4 of an inch off on the front right side. At 4 foot that is only 1/8th of an inch. It wouldnt really be noticeable to most people but with a wavebox I made sure this is level. Plus Im what my girlfriend calls a perfectionist with little stuff like this. :)

Also the house is already 12 years old and I know the floors have been redone so that could be an issue.

Edit- I think I answered all the questions. lol
