So just a cheap thigh holster or a functional tactical? You want a specific threat level and what kind of pistol? I usually go to GT in austin for a lot of my PD gear. I'll be getting a newer safariland raptor III for my duty Sig P226R so my old one(2years old perfectly functional) may be up for grabs.

Hey jack, I should be able to hit the gun show on the first of the month.
CM, kind of cheap. I found one in a magazine (which I lost) for 19 to 29 dollars.
It's for a xd40, no laser, no rack. I'm bear hunting in northern MN and want something I'm already accustomed to drawing from. I've one of those plastic belt jobbies but I'm worried if yogi decides to dance that I might instinctively reach for the old pistol location.
Mid September is when I'm leaving, so I've a little time.

If I'm yogi and I see Allan with a gun, I'm running. Away.
"I'm cheap" and "I'm bear hunting in northern MN" appears to be oxymoronic.

I'll look into XD gear, Most of the site's I've been to list at around 79-89 dollars.
Hey Bill, I view bear hunting as a must have but the holster is just a nice to have. I mean, really if a bear come's after me I've got lightnening and thunder (kissing left fist then right fist) with me and I'm sure I can take it down.
To tell the truth, I'm fast approaching a point where I need to pick my hobbies a bit more carefully or I'll be a single man again.

Allan -
You can also try the Army/Navy surplus store there on Harry Wurzbach at Rittiman. He's usually at the gun show as well and I know I've seen him have some stuff like that at times. There is also National Outdoors on San Pedro inside 410 and then the one on Bandera Rd. inside 410 has more of a selection. They carry the Condor brand type stuff and should have some generic thigh rigs that might work. For something specific to form fit the XD, you'd probably have to order online.

Cap, I bought a cheap one from Amazon and it's a POS. My XDM .40 fits well but it moves way too much just with regular walking and don't even try running with it. My favorite holster is still the MTAC holster that I use for my XD9.

Just a random thought...
Is there ANY other reefer site on the planet, where such a large percentage of the reefgeeks carry a concealed weapon? Can you imagine what the folks from California, Chicago or New York would think?

Fish, coral, weapons, and some of the greatest folks in Texas... All on one site!
Captx, I hadn't thought about them, will swing by today.
Jose, just another argument as to why I won't be running from yogi. ;)
Now the movement you describe, is that the entire rig moving on your leg or the piece moving inside the holster compartment?

Yeah, I know cheap doesn't equal quality, but he did say he was looking for a cheapy holster. I assume for possibly 1 time use? I think usually the decent ones found easily are made for military (Beretta M9) and common police issue guns (Glocks, some Sigs, etc). A good thigh rig with say a kydex holster for his particular gun would probably have to be ordered on line for and would cost some $$$. Or contact Seamonkey, I'm sure he has plenty of extras!

Allan, if you aren't planning on running from Yogi then it may be fine for your needs. If you want to borrow it just pick it up tomorrow in the tank tour.

Jose,
Yeah, if you don't mind. I'd actually like to see if that model would work for me. In iraq we had the holster swinging around a bit, but we kept the leg straps cinched pretty loosely because of the heat.

Dude, why does my name have to pop up when you guys say or even think "guns"...oh never mind I know why :)
I agree a one time use, leg rig can be cheap, a good one is usually a put together type of rig, parts from this and that, that it will make the rig perfect, I heard a guy from here has done something like that :0)
the Army/Navy surplus store have good cheap stuff, especially for what you need, check ebay too, you can get lucky and get a decent one, ARFCOM good too, just keep your eye on your budget and you'll be good to go.
good luck
BTW when other states read things like this, about reefers and guns from Texas, they are jealous, thats it.
