Tagging along... Long time favorite fish. I've always read about them being very finicky, but never heard real life experiences. Not that I have the room for one now, but one day...

Had one for awhile, but it had an internal parasite. Then it died :( They turn black when they are mad.

I had one for about a year in the 220 I used to have. It seemed very happy, it is said they can be evil. Mine was eating out of my hand and got along with all other tank mates. I didn't have any problems with it at all. He was eating, fat and happy I thought, until one day I came home and he was dead. Couldn't explain it, and I didn't see any signs of any parasite or disease.

hmmm i wonder what it was....
well we had one at the shop for 2 weeks or so he ate well all the time but is only an inch and half or 2 i was a little worried about the other tangs killing him since he was real small but they all left him alone for the most part most just sized up to him / circled him and swam by
the one i didnt think would start stuff is my flame back angle he picked on him for a good hour but has left him alone for now
will keep yall updated

I kept one for about a year and a half, but had to sell the tank so he went with it. He stayed fat and happy the entire time, and was by far my all time favorite fish. Recently I added one to my new tank and he died after about a week. Though it may have been due to the other tangs picking on him; he was much smaller than the others. I didn't see any signs of injury, but maybe he was just overly stressed. Overall, I love that fish and plan on trying another one in the very near future.

I have one right now and he is very heathly no problems at all... he is in a tank with a powder blue and get along great. he also eats out of my hand along with the powder blue. but of the two i think the powder blue is much more agressive.

Exactly my tangs have never beat up on any other fish in my tank just the other tangs and that only last for the first 3 days or so …. Except for when I added my sohal tang that lasted about 10 days
I think my flame hawk gives other fish crap more often than any of my tangs ….
Well for update he has a white bump on his head no clue from what
Kevin I hear they are real mean but this guy is small as can be maybe 1.5 inches and my other tangs are 3-6 or 7 inches

The only problem is my tank will end up being tang dominant, if you will. Purple, blue hippo, sailfin, blonde naso, and a powder brown will be in the tank. Others are still being decided on. Oh well we will see what the concensus is when it becomes stocking time again.

Right now it's just the purple, sailfin and blue hippo. They are in a 100 gallon tub until I can get something more permanent setup. The saltwater plans have changed a lot this last week or so. I wouldn't get it until the 360 is up and running though.
