I'm in the process of adding a refugium to my sump and I have allocated a 12x12x12 space for it. I have been reading on the internet about how they set up their fuge and the advantages each of the different types of macro-algae and substrate offer. So my question to the MAASTateers is what type of macro-algae do yall use and do yall use a DSB, mud, or bare bottom? Thanks for input.

Show up how you want to set it up. You looking it to drain directly into the sump or main display? How will you supply flow? Before skimmer or after?

Also, Ping is the fuge expert on here and I listen to his advice most, IMHO.

We use cheato and a DSB, but each are in two different tanks/fuges. Top tank is for cheato and BSD is in bottom tank. Here is a diagram of our sump/fuge:
