So I am finding for the price i found this light it would be perfect for my 90g tank. However the manual says NOT to be used in under a non-vented canaopy (problem) I have to have my canopy on or well the wife will rid the tank (its not pretty). Well my canopy is open in the back side of the tank, and I have drilled 4 70mm holes in the sides of the canopy for my current t-5's fans to be able to vent out of the holes. So i am wonder if this would be enough ventalation to run this light. Also i can always get some 70mm fans to place over the holes with 2 sucking in air and 2 blowing out air. So thoughts on will this be safe, heat issues, etc?

Take it apart and use the components to retro it in.

I think fixture would soak a ton of heat in any type of canopy.

+1 on Retro it. Will loose a lot oh heat by retroing it. Heat gets trapped in the housing

I had 3 halides on my 75, all 250s. You should be ok. I would check the heat first before taking the unit apart. Some of them are put together in such a way that they are not meant to be taken apart.

Did you get this light yet? - I have a 48" Outer Orbit 2 x 250W MH & 4 x T5 Plus Blue and white led and I'm thinking of changing to T5 as I dont need anywhere near that amount of light. It is 6 months old - I purchased it reconditioned from Current USA. I was going to post a feeler for a trade on this forum somewhere.

I have it over a 75G bowfront on a modded canopy - I dont have any extra fans or chiller and no heat problems.
