I just have ports drilled into the rear of the tank. I want to create a skimmer box for them. Is there any dimension I should use to assure proper flow or is the sb not that much of a restriction.
Just want to know before I start cutting material and making it
Thanks so much!

Overflow box just to skim the surface before heading through the fitting down to my sump. Thats what I always called it when its not a true overflow...Skimmer box lol..

Size will determine flow, and water level. What size bulkhead and plumbing style do you wanna run, and how much gph?

It's called a Calfo Overflow. The only restriction you will have is the bulkheads. The bulkheads probably wont be too small that they cause any type of problem. Your return will regulate the amount of flow that goes over the overflow. Clear as mud? :D

Actually it made perfect sense Eric and described what my mind was telling me. The level of the skimmer edge/box dictates the outflow to the sump. Once dropping below that level the return line would be in control. Thus allowing the pump control to dictate the rof and gph through the system.
Im good thanks much!
