I've been getting bored with SPS. I really have trimmed my tank down and only plan to keep a few large colonies. Pretty much tossed all the hundreds of little frags I had. LPS seems to capture my heart these days. I'll always have premium zoas and palys though.

Like Rob I am trying to wait on buying coral to make the move easier. But my plan is LPS and easier SPS down the road.

Rob, if you're looking for cool new ways to spend your money, check out this post (http://glassbox-design.com/2010/australomussa-rowleyensis/)on Glass Box Design. It's an LSP that's new to the hobby, and the colors are amazing.

Now why did you go and do that? I'm trying to build a tank....not buy corals.

Gabe...can you get those?

Im sure I can get these might be a couple of weeks before they really hit the market... might want to jump on them fast before they become $1000.00 corals that for some reason no one wanted before..

+1 for cool LPS corals. I'm really looking for nice colored LPS. Rainbow acans, chalices, etc. And yes, I would have bought of of those as well!

The Wilsoni in the thread I just posted was in that price range. I can't say it would be easy for local stores to carry a large supply of those types of coral, but I am definatley looking for colorful LPS, or things that like to wave and sway. The red and green blastos I got at your place are doing great... blastos are quickly becoming some of my favorites.

If you had some way of getting previews of what you were ordering, colorwise, etc, then I would have no problem picking up some higher end pieces. After all the time and money spent on sand, rocks, sumps, skimmers, etc, I kinda want to have something nice to enjoy!

I also really enjoy 'wavy' things. I like frogspawns and hammer coral too, although I am starting to frag out my own frogspawn. I like Galaxia as well.

BTW Gabe, here is the thread I mentioned when I was in the store. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1826521

Yeah, I'm not spending over $150 on a coral. However, you should be able to get some really colorful chalices and acans for less than this. If you had a nice colony of rainbow acans for $100, I'd buy them. Here's some examples:

Just kidding, the last one was a joke. However, the first one's were not. I would be any one of those at that price if they were in your store. I like the stuff you get in which is why I've spent money with you. However, it seems like you have a big selection of SPS and not much LPS. All the good LPS pieces go quick though! I'm just not a big SPS fan. Most of the stuff I drool over online is nice LPS. This is just my opinion though. Don't worry though Gabe. I'll still be in your shop whenever you get a new shipment and won't be able to resist the urge to buy something. :P

Oh yes, and scoly's would be awesome if you could get ultras for under $150. I just think that's asking too much though. But I'd love me a bleeding apple but I won't pay over $150 for it. :P

Ramsey...I have a rainbow monti but mine doesn't look near as nice as the pics I see online. Same with my rainbow acan and a few other corals I have. I'm looking forward to having a shallow frag tank so that I can pull corals out of the main display to try and nurse them.

Anyways...off topic.

Gabe....PLEASE do not put me down for one of those $350-$500 "get you thrown out of the house corals". lol

What you really need is a 2000 sq ft addition to your store. You could have flat screens, a huge cherub water fountain, a laser and light show every hour, dogs jumping through hoops, hot towels, and a big leather couch. Then we could relax and look at some of those high end corals you got coming in.

Personally, I'm still into SPS, so I'd like to see frags and maricultured colonies from different vendors. But, I think I'm in the minority here, so don't go with my suggestion (except of course the new add on you're going to build).

I think pre-dipped corals would be nice!

Was reading this article awhile back about zoa eating nudis and assume it applies to other nudis and pests as well:
http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/resources.asp?show=15

Not sure how difficult this would be to incorporate into the acclimation procedure of incoming corals. Seems like your shop gets a little crazy when the shipment comes in and I might be the only person that would think of this as a nice perk anyway.

Just not sure if we could afford the prices if he incorporated that into his routine. But still a good idea Karin.

FISH, no one is buying corals now-a-day.?.?

I have noticed a severe decline in our market. The recession has had everyone in panic mode. Last year I could pay my rent in coral sales just from the FST section here. I don't think people care about lineage anymore.

That being said, I want my tank to look like a candy store with a mix of easy to keep (meaning I don't have to target feed) corals. My 75 was rockin and looking great until my BTV took out my idaho grape and red monti.

The larger selection, the better.
