I have caught several Koi shows over the last few years. When I had a pond I would hold off on buying any koi until a show would come to town or at least to the area. So worth checking one out if you never have.

I did a quick google search and found this:

I think they're like a dollar for the little ones at that nursery place at Bulverde and 1604. They have huge vats with varying sizes. I doubt you'll find any showpieces but if you're looking for stocking general purpose I think you'll find a variety there.

yeah, I bought cheap Koi too. The shows always have a huge stock of varying qualities. It's nice to search through hundreds of $5 cheap koi looking for that special marking. Of course they always have top dollar koi too.

Anyways...it's still a cool experience that you might want to check out even if it's just to "check out".

Rainbow Gardens off thousand Oaks and 281 sells Koi. Small and large. Their large black ones are like a foot long and only $15. The smaller ones range in price. They also sell mesquito fish and mollies I think. Pond goldfish too!

^you called Rainbow Gardens?

Crazy...I used to buy from them all the time. Try the one off Bandera rd, inside loop 1604. I bought several big black koi from them.

Note: been a year or two since I bought Koi.

Ok. That's really odd. Out in the field where they sell the tress they had like 5+ man made ponds where they sold Koi from.

That's too bad, guess they don't anymore...or it's some little dude who doesn't know anything.

yea it is strange. Last spring/summer the rainbow gardens on Bandera had several vats with koi. This season they have been empty for months.
