Hi All

I have had a cream angel for a little over a week. I got back from Austin last night and after checking out the tank noticed the angels right eye is cloudy and swollen. It is still eating and seaching for food all the time. So it has not effected its appetite. What can this be?

I could freshwater dip the fish but with it being in a 180g tank with 130lbs of rock and a very active moray eel that might mistake my hand being in the tank as providing food that would be a pain in the butt to catch it.

Any thoughts on what it can be and treatment while in the tank? Raising temp maybe?

Try Prazipro, it suppose to work for something like this. I have some, but if you don't want to drive far than AD has some.

Hey Ray,
Sometimes a new fish gets a case of popeye (with the cloudy swollen eye) from the stress of being caught, moved to a new tank, differences in parameters, etc. We have run into this a couple of times and they generally bounce right back within a couple of days as long as they are otherwise happy and healthy, eating, etc. If that is the case, treating the fish would just add to the stress. Keep an eye on the fish and maybe read on popeye for comparison to decide if parasite treatment is the best course of action.

Thanks Kristy,

This is the first time ive ever had a saltwater fish have any type of sickness, except a tang that had ich once (who hasnt had a tang that had ich).

I will keep a eye on it and see if it clears up and go from there. Swimming and eating which are both good signs of good overall health.
