I just picked up a 110 tall and need some lighting help, I want something that I wont have to upgrade as my skill level and tank grows. The tank is 48x18x30 high, any suggestions? Im also in need of a 48x18 stand if anyone has one they would like to sell.

250W halides would be my first choice for a tank that deep. If you want a cooler option, then a 6-8 bulb t5 fixture would be good. An ice cap retro would be great because you can go with a 660 ballast and do 4 X t5 bulbs, then do another 660 ballast and add 2 or 4 more bulbs to reach you're desired lighting level. That would give you an option depending on your coral choice.

My tank is 29"H. I use 2 x 250w MH retros. 14k bulbs. x2 IceCap 660 ballasts.

SPS do fine mid to high. I only keep LPS and softies down low.

I have the same tank, a 110 tall. I run a modified Odyessa Metal Halide Combo unit. It has the 2 x 250 halides. Like Mr Cob my SPS do fine mid to high. and softies low.
