Okay, so me and a buddy was going to design a little ten gallon channel styled frag tank to mount just above my sump in the rear. Water in one side, out the other. Simple T5 two bulb set up just over the flowing water with the frags just under. We were thinking about 24"L x 6"W x 6"H.

Then I ended up with a gorgeous 75 gallon tank, stand and canopy in my garage. What to do, what to do, ooh, I got it.

I'm gonna set that guy up next to my existing system, tie it into the system Ping-Styled and make that my frag tank.

What I would need,
Lights ~ not sure if I want T-5 on this one or try MH. I'd like to keep my heat down, and since it's a frag tank I could experiment more with a variety of lights if I went T5... hmmmm

Pump ~ thinking of rotating the water volume six to seven times an hour. Trying to figure out where I want to pull the water from, the sump area after the macro. This way in case something goes wrong I only dump a few gallons of water on the floor as I dry up my sump.

The only other thing I would need is some scrap acrylic and a plethora acrylic rods. I want to try that method that was in the free reefer magazine a few months ago. Nothing with a rouch surface to hold onto detritus and algae.

I was also thinking that I'd want a tiered rack style set up like the one's I've seen in PA a few months ago.

Oh, and I'd probably need more power....

How in heaven are you going to talk Gloria into this? I think she might notice the difference between a little 10g frag tank over the sump and a full-on 75g next to the tank!

I am guessing she probably already noticed the 75g in her garage anyway... :)

Yeah, I don't understand it myself but she's seen the tank and is happy with my plan!

One of the reasons is that I will take all those frags out of the dt.

Have you ever seen how slow your prized sps colony travels as it falls from it's perch due to some errant movement of yours while working in the tank?

I hate those little chunks that break off, and really glue some ridiculous chips to those plugs in an effort to make lemonade.

So what do you think about lighting?

48" T-5s are relatively common and easy to come by for lighting a 75g. Can often come by a bargain around here. I think we've done it three times already!

Yeah, that's what I'm running on the dt. I had thought if I could put in a small mh along with a few t5s...

But for some reason I'm having some issues with evaporation now that summer has arrived. Last year we kept the house at 72, this year it seems that were keeping around 74 or so. Feel as if a mh might crank the heat up too much.
