I have a bunch of tufa rock that I had shipped in for my tanks when I was setting them up. Each rock is about the size of a volley ball. very porus and easy to shape yourself. $1.00 a pound.
What I did on my tanks is use the tufa rock for base and main structure then slowly filled with other live rock. After a few months you cant tell the difference.
