How do fish stores acclimate the gazillions of bags they get?

Some don't. Some put them on a table n u take them home in the bag the shipped in.

See I always only see bags or fish in the tank.
With that much stuff coming in all at the same time can they really drip acclimate all this stuff?
Or run around the store for hours putting tablespoon fulls of water in each baggy?

Kristy and I were just talking about this yesterday! I have seen places that throw them in a tub together and drip acclimate them. I have also heard of lots of places reportedly not acclimating them at all and just throwing them into their system.

I have seen the drip method and the temperature only method. Never seen them just throw them in but then again that would be alot faster and less chances to see it I guess.

I've seen them all. Seen tossed in, drip acclimation in a tub, temp then drip then tossed in. I personally do temp n toss in.

We have tried several different methods at our shops, all actually with similar results. What most may or may not know is that by the time a store like ours gets fish in, they have been in the bag almost 24 hours. In the UC store, we usually temperature aclimate in conjunction with doin an "in he bag" mixture of 50% bag water, 50% our water. Some more sensitive or expensive fish we will drip (ex. A clown trigger or sensitive tang). If we know the fish have been in the bags an exceptionally long time, say well over 24 hours, we will simply temp acclamate and put them in. I have honestly seen little difference between the methods, it really depends on their health upon initial arrival. I know our NB store does small groups of fish in several series of drip acclamations... Both stores have similar survival rates, which are pretty darn good if I can toot my own horn! Anywho... That's the scoop on that! Thanks for reading!

I've seen Gabe drip acclimating fish in a bucket a few times. Seemed like a fairly reasonable way to me.

yup gabe first temp acclimates, then in a bucket with a drip for 30-45 min, thats usually why we hang out late there takes a while with a big shipement

Oh good. Now I don't feel so silly with my approach (I temp acclimate and drip line as well).
If they just dumped them in it would have seemed like I am wasting my time at home with my super careful acclimation.
