I am willing to trade my 55gal for a sump and ruge.
I posted my 55gal on here; the link is
http://www.maast.org/showthread.php?60135-55-gallon-with-goodies

I would like a sump that works on a 75gal or higher and a large ruge.
If anybody is willing for the trade, PM me.
And also some help with it, i am 100% clueless about them and it will be my first one!
Sorry for being clueless.

Welcome to maast.

We are here to educate "clueless" people. We all have been novices in this hobby.

A sump and fuge are basically a all in one type of filter. The Sump simply holds the equipment (heaters, skimmers, return pumps etc.) and extra water , the fuge is simply a section that will hold macro algeas, sand or rubble, if macro algae is what you are wanting you will need a light over it as well.

Im sure you can trade your 55g for a Sump/Fuge with no problems. You can find them all the time on here for sale for less than $50. Im sure there are some posted in the for sale section now.

Again Welcome to Maast!

Let me ask a couple of questions...
How long has your display tank been set it up? Most people recommend you have your display tank set up for at least 1 year before buying a mandarin. Some don't wait that long but supplement live pods for feeding. Also what size is your stand? 48" is typical for a 75gal.

We used to have a 75gal tank and had a 30gal sump/fuge. You can also buy a used tank and put in baffles to fit your specific skimmer dimensions and fuge specifications.

Good luck.

Unless you got a lot of cash to spend this is not going to be a very economical solution. A mandarin can eat a $20 bottle of pods in just a couple of days.

No need to spend anywhere close to $500 for a sump/fuge. By used and you will save a lot.

:( Mine's been up since saturday well, my 75g has.
My 55g was up for a year & 1/2 before i got one but since i saw it on melevsreef.com and how he got his to eat flakes or pellets, i thought i could too.
I didn't know he eats pods. And he looked like he was eating the flakes but next thing i knew he died overnight.
My dad built my stand cause he said he didn't trust the ones at pet stores. He made it 50" long

I do, in my profile :)
I wanna get rid of my 55g since i dont need it anymore and am willing to trade it for anything. Fish, corals, rocks, sump/fuge.
I will even take a gift card to Polly's pet since that's where i go for my fish/feed, etc.
