I have 2 Canister Filters of Filstar XP3 size 6
both are making a kind of grindy noise which is not very quiet.
I have followed the instructions best i could but semi got lost:cry_smile:

The noise is so loud, it keeps me up at night.
Luckily, my dog sleeps right through it [luckie him]
I have thought about taking out the stars in the carb section but it says i need that.
I'm sure they both are suppose to be quiet like church mice
Can someone please help me with this?

moved this here to the equip. forum for you :)

along the lines of what chad said, could there be something in the impeller, like a small piece of carbon?

Nemo is trying to jam it with a rock so he can escape again.

I believe the impeller is properly seated, i'm new with this kind of filter. The lid sits like it should and the sides lock so i believe it is properly seated?

If there is something in the impeller i cant really see it but i will look cause both filters do the grinding noise.

I would think there is something in there, broken impeller, of parts just not lined up perfect. I would start by just taking it apart and cleaning it. Just my 2 cents.

The filters are about 3 days old, actually about 5 if you count the 2 days i left them in the box while waiting for the stand to be finished.
I hope nothing's broken, that's just a whole another mess.
But i will try that.

Thanks txg8gxp!

Problem has been fixed. The little funnels are left on by my nephew and after talking to Adriene at Polly's, i removed them and filters are now quiet as church mice. Needless to say when i asked my nephew [age 4] he started crying thinking i was gonna spank him, he said he was very sorry and he was just trying to help. I told him i wasnt mad and promised to buy him a fish as a thank you.

Air in the line/ filter somewhere. Make sure the canisters are completely filled with water and make sure air isn't leaking in from anywhere.
