I pulled out my chiller from my cabinet for repair and before I put it back in, I am rethinking what equipment I should put in my cabinet. I currently have my calcium reactor setting to the side of the tank, and I will be adding a Precision Marine Kalk reactor and water topoff as well. Should I put the calcium reactor and the kalk reactor inside the stand and have the chiller and water reservour to the side? Or put it back the way I had it and just add the kalk reactor and reservour external.

Pros and cons?

Chiller would get better circulation external, but it would be noisy and it gets decent circulation the way I have it in the stand.

Cleaner look with calcium reactor, tank, kalk reactor under the stand, but I maintain these items and they would have to get lifted out and moved around each other to do that.

Water reservour would be attached to the kalk reactor so would need to sit on the same side of the tank area. That is where I have my uv sterilizer, and the chiller pump also feeds the water for the uv sterilizer/fuge.

Help me decide...

There are doors on the cabinet, but these pics give you an idea of what my setup is like. The UV sterilizer was added in the last pic, but you can't see it. The tube that comes down to feed the fuge is the tube from the UV sterilizer.

Build a unit next to your tank with doors to hold the reactors etc. Make sure not to obstruct your side view though!

I'd put the chiller on the side and keep everything else under the cabinet. On my last set up, I had it like that, and put a small fake potted plant on top of the chiller housing to make it less obtrusive.

i agree, i would put the chiller outside the stand. you could make a small cubic cabinet for it with a screen front (like the fabrick used on speaker covers) to allow for airflow and make it look nice.

I like the speaker cover idea...I will have to remember that one.

I reinstalled the chiller outside the cabinet today. I will setup a cabinet of some sort for it and my topoff container.
Then I turned it on and unfortunately it still doesn't work :(
