Ok so I have a 20L with a 700 gph glass-holes overflow and return kit and I am looking for some advice. Not too good with figuring out plumbing yet so I have a couple questions:

1. What kind of pvc pieces should I go with if the sump below is a 10 gallon and will need to turn inward at some point to make up for the size difference?

2. Would spa-flex work better? Can it be used with the glass-holes kits?

3. If I use pvc should I or where should I put a ball or gate valve?

Here is a link to my tank setup. Sorry no pics of the back but the overflow box and return should give you all a proximity of where the pipes would be.

Also if anyone has any pics of their own setup with glass-holes please post some. I learn a little better by actually seeing things to understand the concept.

Thanks,
Marc

I would be glad to come by and help. I am not familiar with the overflow design but have had several different tanks and overflow situations. LMK, I should be available this weekend.

That would be great. I will get in contact with you. I understand these overflows are pretty quiet but just trying to minimize the water draining noise through the piping.

What type of connection do I need if I plan on attaching a vinyl tube to a mag 3? I've got all my other plumbing done for the most part but the return pump does not seem as though it fits a 1/2 connection.

Use a barb fitting with a 1/2" to 1/2" threaded coupler. You can find them at Home Depot by the lawn sprinkler supplies. Also use a clamp to help with any leaking. Should look something like this:

Please, please: Buy your hose clamps from a marine store. They are the same price as the ones from HD and the auto parts stores. HOWEVER, they have a stainless screw in them rather than a galvanized screw, and therefore they will not rust out on you within a year.

Bill - I have seen you mention this before. Where is there a marine store in SA when can go to (NW side is possible)?

Bass Pro has them.

Also, Travis on 1604, and there's one up 35 at Cibolo Creek that has them.
