I have well water and was wondering what tests I should perform to make sure it is safe to use. It is filtered and softened, but before filtering it has a LOT of iron. Is it just safer to buy my water?

Possibly send it out for testing? I have never done this myself, but I have thought about it.

I can only say in my experience, it wasn't an issue on most corals/fish. Not sure how your's would do.
We lived a few miles outside Oakhill and had our own well. The water was high in iron and lime. I used a 4 stage ro/di. I suspect the hard water contributed to the alk/ca imbalances my tank would experience, so sps never really did well. For some reason I couldn't keep brain corals (trachyphllia) either. Softies were no problem. Again, just my experience.
