Hi everyone, I know this isn't quite on topic, and if I posted in the wrong spot, feel free to move it if you can. I'm currently being trained at my aquarium as an aquarist, and one of my projects is to put together a successful (and small :( ) jelly fish set up. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever kept them and had any success with it. This will be my first time ever keeping jellies. I have a kreisel tank available to me, which is excellent, but any time anyone else has tried to set it up, they've been met with epic failure. I would love to...not fail. So I'm trying to dig up any information I can find before I put it all together. I'm hoping to do comb jellies, but I'm almost certain my boss wants Atlantic nettles. Thank you in advance!

Hi, I noticed that you are in Corpus so I'm assuming you are working for an aquarium other than the Texas State Aquarium? If so, have you thought about contacting someone from there for help with the jellies. They have been keeping them successfully for years and are even breeding there moon jellies in captivity. If you need a contact number I can help you out since my wife works there. Also, what aquarium do you work for?

Hey, Logan right? I met you a few times when I was working for Dr. Mark at GC Reef. I actually moved from Corpus back to NJ about a month and a half ago. I work for Jenkinson's Aquarium. It's a small AZA aquarium in Point Pleasant Beach. www.jenkinsons.com/aquarium
I was definitely planning on contacting TSA since they have such a successful set up. I'm also scheduled to talk to a few people up here, but I want to get as much information as I can before setting up the tank. So far, not many people have been successful at Jenk's and I'd prefer not to kill any animals.

Yep, its Logan, I remember meeting you, just couldn't remember your screen-name. Glad to hear you got a job at an aquarium up there. The guy you want to talk to at TSA is named Brian. He is a Masters student at TAMUCC and has been working with/breeding the jellyfish at TSA for several years now. He should be able to answer any questions you might have. Good luck and keep us posted on how things go.

Excellent, thank you. I'm definitely going to write to him, and I'll be working with my head aquarist to get some resources together. I'll keep ya'll updated with photos and everything. It's going to be a small set up, but better than nothing!
