I am looking into putting my sump together today and just wondering if anyone can recommend any glass shops to get the glass cut that I will be needing. If possible I would like to stay on the NW side. Thanks

The one on 35 near retama( sorry forgot the name) will cut small pieces for $12.50. If it is a small sump you can get glass from home depot cheap.

Great. Yeah its only a 10 gallon sump and I only need a few pieces. Went to Lowes the other day and they were kind of rude so I figured I would have to find an actual glass shop. Thanks

For the 10g I built, I just cut the glass myself. Then thin stuff is pretty easy to cut.

What should I look for or ask for at HD as far as glass thickness or what department it is in? I'll look for a glass cutter also.

I used the standard precut pieces, they have like 12x8 pieces that are only like $2-3. The glass is 1/8, and the cutters are cheap.( but they are not the best, one or two projects and you will need a new one.) The glass is cheap, so get extra to practice on.

can you take some pics of this project. i was considering doing the same for my little 34g tank. currently running with a eshopps 75 hob skimmer and no sump.
anyway i have checked out the glass at lowes and homedepot and the price is right, but i don't really know what i am doing. so pics would help a ton.

Sure thing. Not to experienced myself but considering this first sheet of glass to be more experimental. We will see how things come out. :)

If your going to be in the sump alot watch out for the cut edges of glass, you could cut airline (lenght wise) to cover the sharp edges.

It is not as hard as one may think to do but here is my attempt at it. Although my first wack at it was a little rough the more I cut the easier it seemed to get. Not to say that the cuts came out perfect but I made sure to cut pieces slightly larger than I wanted just in case the score I made in the glass did not break off perfectly. To get it a little more even I just sanded down the sides and corners.
