Well, it looks good....but so far the fish haven't gone in it.

You can see in the pic that I'm using the mag float to hold the fishing line which is holding the trap door open. You can also see my clam in the background CLOSED up from the darn wrasse clam nipper.

The tang has been trying to figure out how to get that nori but she can't seem to find the opening...lol, guess my fish are kind of slow.

Tonight I'm going to try and put frozen food in the trap and see what happens. The trap is currently zip tied to my center brace. I'm hoping that in the next few days they will feel comfortable around the trap.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

if the clam would fit in the trap, that would work. i did build a bigger one for andrew (secretweapon) that the clam would definitely fit in. you may see if you can borrow that one.

Rob, when I trained the mandarins to go into Ace's mandarin feeding station I used my regular feeding tool (Kent Sea Squirt) and moved it towards the opening, etc. so they knew something was up.
Got them excited but they didn't find the hole since everything is see through so I put cheato around the entrance and bread crumbed the way in. That worked much faster.
Good Luck! Poor clam :(

I'll try that Karin. bread crumb them in. I like it.

Yeah, forgot to mention that. The clam is too big for that trap...by a couple of inches. I'll give this one until the end of the weekend to see if it works...then I may see about using the other one. Thanks for letting me stop by to pick this one up.

I would put a small mirror in the trap. If the wrasse is at all agressive it will charge the strange fish in the tank.

When I have used my trap in the past it has taken 4 days for the right fish to go in. Last time i used it to catch my angels my copperband was waiting to go in to feed he loves it. Just bait it everyday and leave the door open and they will get use to to feeding in it.

(Everyday shows up twice except when I go to edit?)

He's still in the trap and I'm making arrangements for him this weekend...then I'll get that trap back to you Ace.

I didn't feed the tank for a bit (little over a day) then I put krill rubberbanded to the rock in the trap and he went right in. It was glorious!!!

To the clam I'm like God... I answered his prayers. To the Wrasse I'm like the devil. You should see the looks he gives me now. Looks so funny trying to open his little tiny bony mouth at me! LOL! And his mini dorsal fin is all flared up!

All I can do is step back from the tank, lean my head back...with a little slant and put my hands up in the air and say "What....what now? Whatcha gonna do wrasse?!"

:D I've been extracting frags from my caulerpa rocks all morning and placing the caulerpa rocks into the sump. My new rocks are coming Tuesday because I too am IN CHARGE!

too big for the eel. buy some of those little frozen silver fish...

Jack...like I said with the clownfish... "dude, you're good, no way that eel is going to catch em"

Two hours later...clowny was gone.

I would think a cleaner wrasse could co-exist with an eel...symbiotic at all...???

I'm scared.

Maybe it could live in the sump till Ray gets the eel.

Ahh.. I'm sure you will have plenty of takers.

Rob is still on his power trip. He has no conscience right now in regards to the clam killing wrasse.

(thanks for the glue link by the way!)
