I think I am loosing my Banner fish. He has while spots all over, he and my thread fin have had those white spots for weeks. He and one other fish only. Today I see his fins are looking tattered he has a red bulb near his tail, and he has a red spot on his side by his gills. I have had this fish for 7 months or so. I just did a water change last week but there might be another in my future.

why dont you set up a small qt to put him in so you can try to diagnose and treat him?

That's what I meant. I need to take him out of my display. I think he has a secondary bacterial infection.

Man, he looks so bad now. Much worse than yesterday, he now has huge red patches where it looks like his scales are missing. And it looks like both of his eyes are popping. I took him out. Lowered his salinity and treated him with a med that starts with M. like medrica or something.

not that you want to hear this, but if it comes to the point where you feel you must end its suffering, one of the quickest and most humane ways is to put it in a ziplock in the freezer.

I think I will dose him once more today and see how he does. Like I said he is still eating, and swimming strong. He is not weak and floating yet.

Carter is it possibly HLLE? A guy on RC is running a test to find the relation of carbon dust to HLLE. Are you running a skimmer? I read that the skimmers will pull out the dust...

I have another fish showing strange symptoms, totally different then banner fish. This is my dwarf Angel, she has swollen lips? Her lips are 2 times bigger then they have been. She has been active and trying to eat but it is difficult for her... What the heck is going on? I have lost a number of fish in a short time. It might be my trigger is to blame for some mysterious disappearances but not all of them. I am at a loss.
I wonder if someone who would know would come by and see if they can offer any sugestions. Is there a fish guru out there who has time to help? Maybe we can try and test for other then my 4 test kit offers?

Im so sorry Carter! :( Have you tried to go onto Reef Central for help as well? We have quite a few people here on MAAST that are very knowledgeable, but Reef Central has alot more members than we do. There is bound to be someone out there who has run into this problem. Hope you figure it out! If you need anything.. Feel free to call.

Carter, I'm sorry. I hope somebody knowledgable can stop by. Unfortunately (actually fortunately for my fish I guess) I don't really have any experience with fish diseases.

That fish died too. I don't know what’s going on. I am losing a fish a week; I would hate to think it’s from something stupid I have done.

could be the trigger picking on them, could also be flukes - butterflies and angels are very susceptable to them.
in the discription here, it talks about ich like symptoms and reddened skin - isnt that what you saw on the bfly?
