Refugium mud

Looking for everyone's opinion on mud. Is it worth it? I would like to know what everyone uses, how deep, and why. The sand bed setup for denitrification or just for planting macro. Any info would be awesome, Thanks.

I have to say, Ive now used 2 different muds in my fuge. Miracle mud and Mineral mud. Both say you only have to use 1-2 inches for their product to get exceptional denitrification plus trace element replenishment. I the Miracle mud actually looked like it sustained life better. Had tons of amphipods, copepods, bristleworms, etc living and growing in my fuge with chaeto and rock rubble. Mineral mud , not so much but I used that for my 10 mangrove plants, but doesn't look like its supporting much life or atleast not on the level that mineral mud did. Hope this helps
