Does anyone use the flexible corregated hose from their bulkheads going down to their sumps, and/or from their return pump back up to their tank? If so, what size, what kind of connections and would that type of hose work with a Reeflo Hammerhead pump with 5800 gph capacity and lots of pressure? Just trying to get away from hard plumbing this new tank.
I did find corregated hose at home depot (blue color) in 1.5 inch diameter but they only had black rubber hose clamp/connectors to attached it to other inlets/outlets and didnt have the vinyl ends that screw onto the hose.

Any suggestions as to who sells it in 2 inch and or has the end caps for it?

Spa flex is what most people use for overflows. Not sure how much that helps.

HD should have 2" flex hose. Maybe not corrugated though.

Cory - I used spa flex on our system. We just glued PVC fitting to the bulkheads and glued the spa flex to the fittings. Spa flex uses a different type of glue (light blue) and I have a whole can sitting at the house you can use. I bought the can from a pool supply company some time back.

Thanks gentlemen for the info. Spa Flex it is then since id rather be able to tear down for repairs then have to tear apart pvc and then rebuild.

i always used flexible clear vinyl tubing with hose barbs and clamps for easy removal when needed.

Spa flex gets junk all caught up in it. My 200 is vinyl on the overflows. It's the pressure rated side you need to worry about.

if maintenance is an issue i would stay away from the spaflex, as it needs to be hard plumbed into place. i would go with the braided vinyl hose to barbs. it will withstand the pressure and be much easier to mess with if it ever requires cleaning, which it will. the braided may be unnecessary, but it makes me feel better about the amount of pressure, and it fits tighter on the hose barb.

Spa flex and unions costs a little more, but are wonderfully convenient. I personally HATE barb connections. When I rebuilt my closed loop last fall, I did everything with spa flex and unions, and I've been super-happy with it. Everything comes apart and goes back together very easily when it's maintenance time.

Just my two cents....

not sure what all of these tubes are called but here's some pics of mine. Nothing is glued and everything can be removed pretty easily if needed. I used black foam sheets on the clear stuff to keep alagae from growing.

I have never had any problems using this stuff.

now that is a great idea derry. it is a pain to deal with the hosebarbs and clamps, with spaflex glued to unions, you would get the best of both worlds, flexible and easy/solid connection points.

^I like that idea...if you have to glue then that's the way to do it. I never had to glue anything though.

This is what I did with our 240gal. Actually we have Spa Flex w/unions for the drain and tubing for the return. We have a Dart pump and had to go from 1" to 3/4" and found tubing the best solution.

Well, I picked up a reeflo hammerhead pump from secretweapons22 and plan on using that for practically everything. At 5800 gph at 1 foot, with 2-2 inch bulkheads to drain from the tank, I just needed to see if there were any other possibilities then hard plumbing that would hold up. Obviously gluing the hose to the fittings would be required. Home depot has some blue flex hose (1.5") that looks like its spa fle(pool vacuume hose)

I found 2 different photos. The first is a flexible pvc and the other is what home depot sells (blue flex hose)
