Make sure you have a deep enough sand bed, around 6 inches. This gives them the room to tunnel a hole out for themselves!

very cool, i wanted to add them to my tank when i changed it to agressive reef, but they can be jumpers and i like having the tank open on top. cant wait to see some pics when you get some

they have a big display tank with them at the georgia aquarium - stood there for quite a while watching them last summer :)

I want to see some pics when you get the eels in. I have always wanted to do some...but the peaceful reef always gets me first.

This reminds me. I need to post a thread in the FS forum.

These eels are not easy to keep and should be kept in numbers.. If you plan on putting them in your big tank (32hex) I think that is a very bad plan ..

32g is not large enough for a bimac. 75 or better.... Unless you WTB a blue ring or a dwarf.

Sorry, maybe I'm out of place in this thread.....But, first you were ready for the Eel, although a small tank(for their needs)....Then, you became dead set on a Octo...Why so jumpy?

im going to order a octopus today or tomorrow. i got all info I need and was trying to decide if i wanted a eel or octopus in my tank and my wife really want a octopus. im not going to wait for weeks to decide so its not jumpy. My tank is ready to go, been setup for a long time and has not had anything in there for weeks.

I definitely wouldn't get a bluering. Their color usually only comes out as a sign of aggression, not to mention the fact of being poinsonous, lol. Be sure that top is solid and weighed down. also need a lot of live rock for hiding.

What else do you plan to keep? Looks like you need a new thread now.... "WTB an Octo"

I think you will really enjoy your new tank! What size is it? I had a 30g for several years and getting a bigger tank really opens up the possibilities (like octopus!)
Be sure to post lots of pics. This will be an interesting one.
I think Ace already mentioned tonmo and since you've been researching already for weeks you probably already saw this but I am posting it for anybody else who may not have seen it yet:

I think the Bali Zebras are really pretty:

aren't starfish "iffy" targets for food with the octos?....BTW, stay away from this octo, meanest of the bunch, lol:
