Not quite a DIY explanation but just wanted to see or get opinions from you guys and gals on how my first forey into trying to make my own overflow boxes turned out. YES, i did use clear acrylic so I could see any blockage and or have it blend in with the water when looking from afar. LOL

I made 2 boxes and the one in this picture you can clearly see my FIRST attempt at bending plastic using a blow torch. My wife says it looks like water bubbles instead of just melted plastic. I can live with that. The other bends went much better as I didnt get so close to it to melt it. Used a router to contour the bottom and I think I managed a good acrylic seal using Weldon 4 and a applicator needle. Not bad considering it cost me about 12 dollars in 1/4 in plastic for 2 overflow boxes measuring 10 long by 3 deep by 14 high. These are going to be infront of a 2" bulkhead for my 215 gallon tank pluse 60 gallon sump

Some of the complaints of the DIY is the noise and flow. Looks great...time to get it wet!
