and I hear an employee say "we are not going to sponsor MASST this year".
They mention other sponsors have not renewed, don't intend to, are past the year point.
As it is obvious this information is "out there" I wanted to ask.
Has MASST been informed by any sponsor that they will not renew and are any behind in fees?
Thank you

So which stores will stop sponsoring?
I am kind of excited new stores have been joining! :)
I wouldn't be surprised though if you get out of it what you put into it.
Like I bet MAAST is a great tool for those owners that are also active on the boards, post their stock lists and particpate actively.
I still visit other MAAST sponsors but definitely go more to those that post on the forum rather than those that just pay their fee.
I could see where the sponsorship is less effective for those that just pay the fee and otherwise don't get involved.

actually, gabes, alamo aquatics, phenominal aquatics, reefs2u, austin aquadome, and aquatek all renewed in the last few weeks and polly's became a sponsor as well. there are a few more sponsors that are online sponsors that are up for renewal that we have begun to contact also. the only sponsor who has not renewed so far is a dallas store who became a sponsor because of tmac last year - he did tell us that he will be a vendor at our conference this year tho :)

Not sure. The info I heard was second hand. Perhaps the one that has not paid? Those in charge would know best. I was just inquiring. Unless more than one sponsor is past due? I prefer to refrain on further comment and let those in the know reply.

there are no san antonio, austin or corpus christi stores that are up for renewal now - all that were due have already renewed. the owner of the store in dallas who elected not to renew has never logged onto our site and his sponsorship was part of his benefits for participating as a vendor at tmac last year.

That is good news to know. Thanks for the quick reply. I was concerned from what was heard.
Would it be a problem to ask when each sponsor is due and when they need to renew? I know you show overall records but the itemization is unknown to most and I don't know why.

It is good to see that all store in SA and Austin have renewed their sponsorship....H2O it should be an easy request, there is a Spreadsheet that was created last year, where all Sponsor's donated items are entered. The way it was created, was by each sponsor, what the sponsor donated, the date of the donation, and who p/u the donation. We also "updated" as the items donated were won by the Member with a date.
I also used to "Give Thanks" to the sponsors with donated items in their threads aka forums, so the Members could also see what items were donated.

actually, we have several online sponsors and a couple of dallas stores who were up for renewal as of the end of march - those are the ones we are working on getting renewed right now. after they are taken care of, there is one sponsor up at the end of may and all of the others are scattered throughout the rest of the year after june. we are also working on some new sponsors too

But I must admit I like Mrs. Byrd response, it has some detail to it, that is lost in yours.
So I refer to my previously posted question. Is there a problem if members know when sponsor fees are due and when?

Yes Andrew, that should be the way to go but too bad not very many people do that, especially the latter. Too many people believe perception as fact...

There has been a complete turnaround here on MAAST the past few months and I believe we can give a BIG Thank You to the new BOD for this positive change.
Has MASST been informed by any sponsor that they will not renew and are any behind in fees?
H2Ochem - What is the purpose of your question? Do you want to know who you should buy your products/livestock from or is this to generate a negative discussion?

not really a big deal, we do have a spreadsheet, but i do not want to publish everything on it (like all of the sponsor contact info that we have - a privacy issue with the sponsors). give me a bit and i will pull the sponsor name and due date data into a new spreadsheet so i can post it.
as for the "who picked it up" and "what was donated" information, that is now irrelevant as all sponsor fees are a combination of money/gift certificates and they are all mailed to the maast PO box so they can be documented by the treasurer. We also now use a standard agreement document to keep track of all information and keep up to date records on spreadsheet as well as in a sponsor information forum that is used by the sponsorship committee.
we have implemented these improvements in record keeping because we want to be sure everything is well documented.

because of the sensitivity of this information for many reasons, the list has been posted in the charter member forum.

Ross, I no longer have access to the spreadsheet, due to it is located in the Front Office Forums, where only BODs, Committee Members and Moderators have access too...:)

Sure Ace, it was located in the Sponsorship Committee forum, Brian is the one who actually produced it. Subsailor and I entered data into it. I have not had access to it, since Sept, so who knows with all the changes that have been made.

Where or who I buy from is my decision. Period.
Generate negative discussion? Was just a question.
For an organization seeking non-profit status, regardless under which section, it seems difficult to get an answer to a question that would be available to the public when requested.
So you tell me; question or negative discussion?
Cheri - Please provide a link to this spreadsheet?
Think she did but only "members" can see it. Is there something to hide? Non-profit, "pending", will change that.
Sinner - That is a good one. A question I always ask - In the end, what is the positive result going to be?
As for Sinner's statement I have heard that from many people. Just day's before they lost their job.............then collecting my bonus.
WHAT IS THE POSITIVE RESULT OF THIS THREAD?
Maybe just an simple answer to an simple question?

sorry, you missed the rest of the discussion about this issue in the charter member forum. everything requested was posted in the charter member forum and all available records have been compiled going back before last year. these sponsorship records are available for view upon prior request by a charter member at any monthly meeting.

H20Chem,
excuse me for putting my nickel into your two-cent conversation, but
Your previous quotes were, for the record:
For an organization seeking non-profit status, regardless under which section, it seems difficult to get an answer to a question that would be available to the public when requested.
as well as:
Think she did but only "members" can see it. Is there something to hide? Non-profit, "pending", will change that.
What I am trying to understand is when you have been given answers to your questions in this public forum, you don't seem to like what you are given.
In fact, forgive me if I am taking this the wrong way, but it almost seems like you are trying to bait people into verbally disagreeing with you on purpose. Why?

Where exactly was I given an answer to who all the sponsors are, when there dues were due, and which were past due?
I am not baiting nobody. I asked a question and they can answer or choose not to. But if this organization goes non-profit those answers are not limited to a "charter" members. It becomes public record.
Seems there is a problem making those records available to the public at this point. Why? As you speculate I will.

From where I am sitting. Infront on my keyboard. It seems that as a web member you ask a lot of questions and like to stir the pot. Why don't you log on the Reef Central and str the pot there. Or better yet pay you $25.00 and become a charter member. Now I am finished and you will probably start bashing me. This doesn't mater but you can start trouble on any corner in this city. Why not go somewhere else and bother them. We got along fine for years before and we will get along fine when you decide to leave. This is Darth Tater signing off.
