Hello! My name is Melanie! My husband (Nick) and I just set up our first SW tank 2 months ago! We are so very excited to find such an amazing hobby with equally amazing people!

I was really into my guppies for about 4 years and decided to give the tanks up for awhile! We have always wanted to go SW and finally made the leap. We tore down all of our tanks and had them stored and so we decided that the 55g we had broke down for about a year and a half should finally come back in the house. We have about 85lbs of LR, T5 HO lighting, protein skimmer, wet/dry filter that we are taking the bio balls out of now, and a 10g display refugium with a DSB. We have 2 Bangai Cardinalfish, 1 Ocellaris Clown, 2 Blue Damsels, a Dragon Goby, a Feather Duster, a Peppermint Shrimp and hermits, Nassarius Snails and Turbo Snails! No corals yet but want to eventually get there! We are now talking about turning our 29g bowfront into a species tank for a Horned Cowfish (FOWLR) because my hubby REALLY wants one. We know that he will eventually outgrow the 29g but we can always upgrade that to a larger tank later on!!!!:)

We are looking into the Charter membership! The meetings sound amazing and the people here seem incredible. We had the honor of meeting Eve and Ross tonight and spent a little time talking with them! I have warm and fuzzies after our little visit! (Thank you so much for the Chaeto!) If I had doubts about joining before, they are gone now after realizing how much fun it would be to be around such wonderful people!

I have to admit that I have been lurking on here for the last few days but I love what I have seen!

Here is a pic of our setup. It is from when we were cycling the tank, so there is no noticeable life form in the pictures. I really should take some now that we have more activity!

The picture is added to my original post. Took me a minute to figure out how to get it uploaded! I am sure I will be asking PLENTY of questions! Everyone is going to get sick of me asking!

OMG, do we ever have the fever! I can't think of anything else! I was actually dreaming about ocean life the other night!:blushing:

We had lots of help from 2 of the guys at a LFS! They are probably SICK of seeing us!!! Hahaha!

We just couldn't bear to treat our fuge like a red-headed stepchild! Hahaha! We figured since that had cash invested there as well, we wanted to be able to watch it! Which yesterday and today, I saw one of the nassarius snails laying eggs on the glass! This kids loved it! Nope not in the wall. We just have really dark paint on the wall there so it blends well at night!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I know, I know! It is just SO hard sometimes! I am such an instant gratification person! This hobby is DEFINITELY teaching me how to be patient!

Thanks! I look forward to meeting you as well! I am going to look over the meeting dates in a bit to figure out what we can do schedule wise! Sometimes it is hard for me because I own my own photography business and a lot of times I am tied up with brides and weddings! This has been such a distraction for me! I can't seem to get ANY work done because the tank is a magnet and just keeps calling my name!
