Return Suction?

So I was trying to tone down my water noise in my overflows an decided to try some different plumbing. Right now I have two 24" high overflow with 1 12"x1" return in each they have T's on the tops with gaurds on either end of the T. Any Suggestions on how to quiet these puppy's?

My guess would be to add a small hole in the top of the t so air can get in that way and brakes the suction, but I would wait for somone with more experiance before I went to drilling ;)

As noted above, drill a hole AND put a piece of rigid tubing down them. What you want to do is get the tubing into the part of the drain where the air bubble develops. The tubing will allow it to "burp" without the big gurgle you are getting now.

so I shoved a 3/8" hose down there and its spitting at me. How do I know when i hit the air bubble?

3/8 is too big. But if it's spitting at you, you hit it!

so go with hard air tube? That small?

yeah im still getting suction any other suggestions?
